Generative artificial intelligence use policy
(guidelines are aligned with recommendations of the academic publisher Elsevier)
For authors
Authors may use generative artificial intelligence only for the purpose of improving the clarity of the language. Since the content obtained using artificial intelligence-supported tools may be inaccurate, incomplete and biased, authors are obliged to carefully review it. Authors are fully responsible for the content of the scientific paper.
Authors should explicitly state if they have used artificial intelligence tools by adding a “Statement on Generative Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence-Supported Technologies” at the end of their manuscript, immediately above the references. The wording of the statement reads:
During the preparation of this work the author(s) used [NAME TOOL / SERVICE] in order to [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.
The guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence do not apply to the use of tools for checking the grammatical correctness of the text, searching for literature, citing and formatting references, and data processing. This means that authors are not obliged to provide a Statement in these cases.
For reviewers
Reviewers are required to treat the papers they critically evaluate as confidential documents. Reviewers should not upload the manuscript or any part of it to tools supported by generative artificial intelligence, as this may violate the confidentiality and proprietary rights of the author, and where the paper contains personal data, may violate data privacy rights. Reviewers have full responsibility for the content of the review report.
