Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper presents the current situation of contemporary school practice, with a focus on organizing and carrying out the teaching process. The aim is to determine the frequency of application of the constructivist and traditional elements in teaching, as well as to examine the engagement and interest of students and their role in the process of learning and teaching, in relation to the current approach of the teachers' work. The research was conducted on a sample of ten primary-school teachers, and the instrument used was an observation protocol that was created for the purpose of this research.
The results of the research emphasize the dominance of traditional elements over the constructivist elements in the current school practice. The results also show that teaching with the elements of constructivism contains an increased curiosity and motivation of students for the teaching content, and their greater involvement in teaching. It has been concluded that the current situation of the school practice is in the spirit of traditional work, and that enrichment of teaching with constructivist elements can result in interactive communication in the classroom, and put students into the position of engaged individuals.
